This is a demo done by Chong Kwan Jang Nim (Chief Master) Byung In Lee and some of his Black Belt Level students. It is a very informative video because the spokesman talks about the meaning of the techniques and forms they are doing, Here are some of the highlights:
- Guhm Moo Hyung means the “Sword Dance Form.” It allows you to practice the use of Korean Royal Court Short Swords without actually having them on you
- Kuk Sool Won is Primarily a Defensive Martial Art
- In Kuk Sool, the idea is not to mimic exactly the movement of animals, but to mimic the purpose of the movement of the animal and change it to a human form
- Fans are used not only to strike pressure points but to also disguise your movements
- Oh Yeah…….and Master Lee is awesome.
This video was on YouTube and looks like it was produced by Docubloggers

Does your school have a commercial? I have found three different schools who have recorded and produced commercials for their school. In todays world of social media and the video craze online, why not have a commercial? It’s cheap and fun. Here are 3 examples of commercials from Kuk Sool.
The St.Louis commercial is a little shorter, which if I was airing on TV, I would probably go with because of the appropriate length. But the other two are very nice for if you are only going the online promotion route. Enjoy.
Leavenworth Kuk Sool Won (they call it more of a promo video)
Kuk Sool Won of St.Louis
- Sorry for the poor quality, if you go to their website it is much better. There is a link on one of the pop-ups for the video.

This one was too long for YouTube so click here to watch it: Click Here to Watch this Commercial

The Korean Kuk Sool Championships just finished and my good friend Stuart, who I trained with in Seoul, was kind enough to release some awesome videos. The top 5 videos (according to yours truly) include fan techniques, sword sparring, sword cutting, breaking, Hyung (a.k.a. Form), and Korean Monk Techniques. My only advice to Stuart would be to get a new Video Camera because he needs one.
Korean Kuk Sool Monk Techniques Video
- This is the first time I have ever seen any Monk techniques. Pretty awesome.
Kuk Sool Sword Sparring Video
- Kuk Sool sword sparring techniques as well as Jung Gum Hyung
Kuk Sool Korean Master Form Video
- Sahm Bang Cho Hyung, this is one of my favorites forms in Kuk Sool
Master Level Kuk Sool Sword Cutting Video
- Cutting Boards with Swords. Don’t try this at home. Unless you are a high rank of course.
Kuk Sool Fan Techniques Video
- I love fan techniques and so should you. Enjoy.

One might argue that the front Handspring is the first advanced Falling Technique in our Martial Art. Handsprings always seem tough till you break your own mental barrier and figure out how to properly do a Handspring. Make sure you have proper padding , equipment, and spotting when first learning how to do Handsprings. A lot of people talk about how easy a handspring is. Remember this, it will only be easy through practice.

The 2007 Kuk Sool California Tournament just happened a couple days ago and some videos have been put on YouTube for our viewing pleasure. All three videos are from the Tournament Demo with Board Breaking, Kuk Sool Cane Techniques, and Nak Bub or Falling. Two of the videos have Masters doing the techniques.

Fresh release from the Great Lakes Tournament in Troy, MI. Master Gary Evarts does a pretty awesome breaking demo. Short but sweet. Breaking is something that takes a lot of concentration and proper technique to execute. You will hardly ever have a perfect breaking demo so always give it a second go if something messes up.
If you have never seen the website for his schools I think it is THE best Kuk Sool website out there right now and is worth checking out: Kuk Sool Won of Greater Rochester
