Is your school going to do a Holiday Demo? If so, record it, post the video on YouTube and I will get it posted here on the blog. Here is the first one I have seen from Sa Bum Nim Dewain Perry’s School in South Austin, TX.

Kuk Sool Won Head Butt Techniques performed by Kwan Jang Nim Barry Harmon. This video is from a demo at University of Illinois 1996. Over 10 years ago. Pretty crazy.

Sometimes hindsight is just 20/20. The Houston World Championships this year looked awesome and I wish I could have went. For all of you in the same boat and maybe for some of you who want to see the demos again. Here is an excellent video of all the parts of the Masters Demo:

Kuk Sa Nim gives a wonderful history lesson on the three areas on which Kuk Sool is based: Tribal, Buddhist, and Korean Royal Court Martial Arts. If you want to tell your friends about Kuk Sool you may want to send them this video as it explains where we come from so well.

This video is pretty Old School but it is the only instance I have ever heard or seen of Kuk Sool in the UFC. If you know of another instance feel free to leave a comment and point it out.
I have heard a couple different stories about this video. The one I have heard a couple times is that Gary Goodridge was training up in Canada for the UFC at a Canadian Kuk Sool School (may be gone now). There is more to the story but I won’t gossip more than that, but if you know the real story leave a comment.
* Warning: Sorry, No Sound. I did not make the video. Also, kinda violent for the kiddies.

This video features Kuk Sa Nim performing Maek Cha Ki in 1975. Some of the techniques are a little different than they are now and some of them are a lot different. For those of you not yet at the Blue Belt level, Maek Cha Ki is a pressure point striking set with kicks. Each technique starts off of your partner doing a kick then a punch. Enjoy.

I would love to have seen Master Alex and Master Sung Jin doing a demo together. It seems like the European Championships always have an awesome demo portion of their tournament. Maybe one day I’ll be able to make it over there and join you all.
